Rasheed is a Tool

Out of every off-season move the Celtics could make, the No. 1 thing I didn't want them to do was trade Rondo. So far so good on that front.

A close runner-up to the top of my off-season wish list was that the Celtics would not sign free agent Rasheed Wallace. This is one wish that just may get crushed.

Numerous reports this week have Danny and crew putting the full-court press on Sheed, and the Globe has Ainge coming right out and saying that Wallace is one of their key targets. Some reports even have Ainge knocking on his door at midnight right when the free-agent signing period began.

I can't stand the thought of this guy wearing Celtics green next year. Rasheed -- to quote Mike Felger -- "has been a puke his whole career." While he has had many productive years, and has helped the Pistons win a championship...he has also always been a punk. He is constantly whining and he consistently hurts his team by getting horrendous technical fouls at the wrong time. He simply has a knack for looking like he is always having the least amount of fun on the basketball court.

Basically, he takes all the fun out of the game.

On top of all that, he is three quarters of the way down the hill. His numbers have gone down consistently year after year for the last five or six years, getting down to 12 pts, 7 rebs last year...including all but disappearing in the playoffs vs Cleveland. He is also a big man that doesn't ever get down low on offense. While he does shoot 34 percent from beyond the arc for his career -- not bad -- he is not worth all the shit he is going to bring to this team.

One report had someone in Sheed's camp saying that he is intrigued by the Celtics, but is hesitant due to all the big egos in the locker room. Yes Sheed, their egos are going to be the problem. Do me a favor, stay away. Let's not find out.

I'll keep updating as this story continues, or hopefully, fades away.

In other off-season moves, Marbury wants to come back (no!), Big Baby has been tendered a qualifying offer, and dear friend Leon Powe looks unlikely to come back. The Cs will miss his heart on the court -- and he deserves every Celtics' fan gratitude for helping make Number 17 a reality.

That's it for tonight -- I'm beat....I'll be back this weekend.
