You haven't won a road game throughout the playoffs, and you desperately need to take Game 4 on the road to put your team in a "can't lose" position in the series. You're down three going into the fourth and taking this quarter may be the most important thing you do for your team, not only in the series, but the later rounds as you would remove the monkey from the team's back.
You have many proven scorers on your team, and getting off to a good start in the fourth is a must. You have three proven All Stars, so surely at least two of them will be on the floor while one rests, and you surround those two players with the best players on your bench. So you're Doc Rivers, what do you do?
Do you put your best team possible on the floor?
No. You insert a lineup of Glen Davis, James Posey, Sam Cassell, P.J. Brown, and Pierce for nearly the first five minutes of the quarter and practically hand the win to Cleveland.
Of course you do.
